People asking where to go after dark tend to hear one of two things: the town has bars, or the island is dull unless you are into nightlife. In fact the town centre has a bar with DJs and live music as well as a night market.
Head up to the roof terrace of this upstairs café at 44 Một Tháng Tư in the late afternoon, order a salted coffee and wait for the sunset before going down to the street. Guests say the upstairs seats are still easy to talk in, though you can hear the traffic below.
Information about the café comes from the Google Maps listing 'TheLocalCoffee. •Coffee & more' and all 144 reviews on it, read on 19 Oct 2026: the address, phone number, type of place, drinks mentioned and comments about the space. A comment about the space was kept only when at least two independent reviewers made it. The reviewer 'Cat Ba Local' may be connected to the café, so they were not counted. Two reviews with identical wording count as one. The house number 44 and the price range of 25,000–70,000 VND were checked against a guide to cafés in Cát Bà on catbaduky.com (published 8 Oct 2025). The sign in a photo of the shopfront reads 'Số 44 Đường 1/4' together with the phone number, matching the listing. Not used: the 4.9 rating on Google Maps, because there are signs that the owner encouraged reviews; the opening hours of 08:00–22:30, because they come from a single source; the number of floors (two floors plus a rooftop, or three floors), because sources disagree; and praise such as 'cosy', because it is an adjective, not a fact. No per-item prices from an official source yet.
Take a terrace seat facing the Xanh Island square's fountain and water show as dusk falls, then move up to the rooftop when the DJ starts. Monday to Friday each night has its own theme, such as Ladies Night or Oyster Night.
The name, the TM07 Xanh Island address, coordinates, phone number, opening hours, menu and prices, booking channels, payment methods and the Monday–Friday themed-night schedule come from the official website quiribeachclubcatba.com (home, Menu and Events pages), read on 19 Oct 2026. The 07:00–02:00 hours were cross-checked against the Google Maps and Tripadvisor listings the same day. The atmosphere (DJ, dancing, terrace, rooftop, fountain view, quiet nights) comes from Google Maps reviews exported on 19 Oct 2026 and one Tripadvisor review from Sep 2026; a burst of near-identical reviews from 2–4 days earlier, one account that may belong to a staff member, and entries that were really owner replies were excluded. The link with Quiri Pub (135 Tùng Dinh) comes from the owner-managed Tripadvisor page ('second concept') and the website footer ('Quiri family'). Not used: star ratings and review counts, because the sample skews positive and one guest said staff ask for reviews; the venue's own 'beachfront' claim; the seafood and Vietnamese cuisine labels that appear only in the website's structured data; the Saturday and Sunday schedule, the music start time and the buy-one-get-one drinks offer, because the venue's own pages disagree with each other.
Once the streets light up, this is the busiest spot on the island: children run around, adults sit in the breeze, and the music fountain on the square's edge lights up. There is no gate and no ticket, and the tourist boat pier is a few dozen metres away.
Identity and location were cross-checked across two independent layers of sources: the Google Maps pin 'Quảng trường Cát Bà' and the area 'Quảng trường Cát Bà' on OpenStreetMap, with the two centres about 20 m apart. Both, together with the position of the passenger pier right next to it, were read with a browser and Overpass on 13 Oct 2026. The evening rhythm and the electric cars for children come from visitor reviews on Google Maps, cross-checked with VinWonders (Jul 2025) and Elitetour. The story of the stone block of 2009 marking where President Hồ Chí Minh came ashore on the island in 1959 comes from the Hải Phòng city news site. The fact that the square once hosted the opening of the tourist season comes from Báo Văn hoá (2019). The 2025 renewal of the bay frontage comes from Dân trí (31 May 2025); this article almost duplicates the wording of Sun's press release, so it counts as only one source. The layout (fountain, stage, early-morning rhythm) and every detail of dishes and prices in the VUI-Fest area all come from the promotional page of the developer Sun, with no independent source yet. The administrative unit, Cát Hải special zone, follows Người Quan Sát (29 Jun 2025). Not put on the page: the 2026 sea festival, the seashell architecture and the figure of 30 thousand people (these belong to Con Sò Square, about 400 m away); craft beer and DJs (a separate restaurant about 650 m away); every time to the minute for the night market and the shows; the news that 'shoreline construction is under way' (only one machine-translated page, which could not be rechecked); and two quotations that had been paraphrased but were claimed to be verbatim.

“Picture a summer evening in Cát Bà town. A passenger boat has just docked, the fountain lights up, children run in circles and the breeze comes in off the bay.”
Point at a live squid or crab on the stall, it goes straight onto the charcoal grill, and you eat it hot on the small stools set out in front. Come as the market lights up and seats are easier to find than in the post-dinner crowd.
The market's location was cross-checked on 3 Oct 2026 using OpenStreetMap. The market area, labelled 'souvenir and clothing market' (way 409744582, last edited 23 Apr 2024), lies right at the coordinates, next to Cát Bà Square. Wikivoyage confirms that the main square is near the ferry dock on Một Tháng Tư street. The detail 'opposite the square, on 1/4 street' comes from a Wistaria Hotel post (9 Jul 2025); the distance to the pier and the distinction between the night market and the daytime seafood market on Tùng Dinh street come from the VinWonders page. Sun Group's Vui-Fest market is a different place, per VnExpress (15 Apr 2025). The dishes, how seafood is chosen and prepared, how people sit, and the market's rhythm by hour and by season come from visitcatba.com.vn (the Sun World Cát Bà site), Cát Bà Express (a post after May 2025), Cát Bà Du Ký (22 Feb 2025) and Quang Thắng Cát Bà (28 Nov 2024). Haggling advice and closing time come from Hòa Bình Tourist (27 Jul 2024); the advice to bring cash comes from Ngọc Thạch Travel (13 May 2026). Most of these sources are commercial travel sites; there is no independent press report on the market after the redevelopment of the central bay area (since Aug 2024). The following points were rejected. The sentence 'fixed prices, no haggling needed' appears on only one promotional page, which other pages copy. The sentence 'by day the same spot is a local residents' market' was mixed up with the daytime market, which is about 460 m away. The figures for hours and for prices by weight differ between sources. The rolled ice cream came from an article that lumped in the Vui-Fest market. The number of zones and the number of stalls are not consistent between articles.

“Picture a bánh mì cay, the spicy little Hải Phòng-style sandwich, crisping over glowing charcoal right beside a counter of live squid, crab and sea snails waiting for someone to point. Cát Bà Night Market has no monument to look at.”
A seafront bar on 1/4 street with a free pool table, where the DJ music gets louder and more club-like as the night goes on. If you want dinner with conversation, come early, before the party starts.
The name, the address 228 Một Tháng Tư, the opening hours 07:00–02:00 and the amenities (breakfast, lunch, dinner, vegetarian dishes, cards accepted) come from the Tripadvisor page 'Cat Ba Oasis Bar' managed by the owner, cross-checked with Google Maps (read with a browser on 10 Oct 2026) and a Sun Paradise Land blog post of 12 Sep 2025. The bar is still operating: the newest Tripadvisor review was written on 12 Aug 2026, and Maps shows 'Open' on 10 Oct 2026. The atmosphere (seaside, loud music late at night, many backpackers, free pool, murals) is assembled from named-author reviews on Tripadvisor (Jan 2024–Aug 2026), with each point written by at least two people; the DJ programme comes from the Sun Paradise Land blog of 12 Sep 2025. The 'moderate' price tier is based on about 100,000–200,000 VND per person reported by 131 Google Maps users, plus the price range in the 12 Sep 2025 blog; this is an aggregated source, not the bar's menu. Rejected: the capacity (the blog says 100 guests, the owner says 150 seats); the swimming pool (most likely belongs to the bungalow property of the same Oasis name); the happy hour times (two sources contradict each other); every specific price figure from the blog; dishes with only one source; and the music schedule by weekday (two posts on the same blog contradict each other).
A DJ stage, a powerful sound system and laser lights in a hall big enough for hundreds of people dancing, suited to groups of friends staying out late. The club has moved to 3 Hoa Phong street; don't confuse it with Rose KTV.
The address 3 Hoa Phong street (a cross street off Núi Ngọc) and the club's move here around May 2024 come from VTC News (16 Jun 2024). The old address 210 Núi Ngọc comes from Pháp Luật Việt Nam newspaper (6 Jul 2019). The facade photo posted on Google Maps also shows exactly this house number on the wall. The pin location was cross-checked with the building that OpenStreetMap records as the nightclub 'Rose Club' (drawn 24 Dec 2025, about 23 m from the pin). The description of the space comes from VTC News (16 Jun 2024): DJ, loud sound, laser lights, hundreds of people. Information on DJ events comes from HaiPhongTours (2026) and Sun Paradise Land (17 Apr 2026). That it is still operating rests on one Google Maps review from around Aug 2026. The moderate price tier rests on exactly one Google Maps review (around Aug 2026, a level of 200,000–300,000 VND per person). Opening hours are not published because Google Maps, Wistaria Hotel (9 Jul 2025) and catbaduky.vn (26 Jun 2025) give three different closing times. The phone number is not published because the sources give three different numbers. A cluster of Google Maps reviews praising the music was not used because many reviews are written in the same sentence template. The label 'Rum Shot' was not used because it is a label auto-generated by Google Maps, not a verified dish. Photos come from Google Maps under Vietlume's pilot exception, with no licence from the authors yet.
